The River Cable Difference

DVI Cable

While you may have found River Cable in your search for a DVI cable, we at River Cable want to educate our customers as part of any audio/video cable purchase. That is why it is important for you to know that every digital video component is manufactured for either a serial system or a parallel system, so it is essential to know which system you have before selecting a video cable. Serial Digital Interface (SDI) cable standards were developed for long distance connection of component digital television equipment; as a result, truly digital broadcast or tele-production is now possible although not yet common. The ITU has developed digital video standards for European PAL systems.

Cables like a DVI cable and other digital video cables are typically used for LCD flat panel TVs, projectors, video game systems, HDTV, DVD and many types of high-resolution video systems.

Digital video signals include a wide range of encoded information requiring timing signals. The digital timing signals travel at very high frequencies and thus rely on precise communication between components to insure that information is correctly decoded. It is not unusual in digital video to digitally encode the audio (AES/EBU) and to imbed it in the picture. Digital TV receivers not only provide high fidelity picture, but also high fidelity audio.

Digital signals sent over a DVI cable are very stable and digital reproductions are faithful in quality to the originals. Signal degradation on digital cables is all but eliminated and immunity to noise is vastly improved. These digital advantages ensure superior picture and sound quality along with broader interactivity.
